Reason For Staying
Enjoyed the social side and seeing the Club produce many good players and grow to it's present position with over 90% of local talent.   Could write a book book about the characters in the Club i.e Trucky, Boardy, Scammels, etc.   What local Clubs (even First Class Clubs) have had tours which include, Toronto, Ottawa, Piitsburgh, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Buffallo, San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami and Bahamas

Many really good players have passed through the Club, many never having played the game i.e Trucky Senior, Mike Vaughan, Steve Bugler, Chris "Shergar" Evans and many more who turned into excellent players.  Probably the most talented and disappointing would be Ryan Buckley, as I believe with a bit more mental strength, he should have played many time for Wales.  However, the legendary Jeff Morgan would most probably come top in most suppoerts and players eyes.   Over 600 games for the Club and didn't play rugby until he was 22,and blessed with ball handling skills you would die for. Well that's what he says anyway.
About Me

Started as an apprentice in 1964 at Rhymney Engineering Company, and we set up a Youth team-R.E.N.C.O. Youth.   Didn't win a game for two years and played all our fixtures away because we didn't have a field.   Had a Welsh Youth Cap in 1966 along with the legendary Phil Bennet, Derek Quinell, Trevor Evans, and Phil Llewellyn.   Claim to fame is I had a Youth Cap playing for a side that had never won a game.   Out of the game through injury but returned to play for Ebbw Vale from 1971 to 1977 in the "Golden Era" playing against and with other Welsh greats such as Denzil Williams, Arthur Lewis, Clive Burgess, Paul Ringer   Also appeared for NTRFC in the early days at Lock, No 8 and outside half, even setting up a try for Paul Hares (father of the two Hares boys) in Plymouth.   That try has been talked about in Navy circles for the past 25 years.   Coached the Club every year since it's formation in one capacity or another.  Still enjoy seeing the players improving and enjoying them selves every week, even when we are going through a bad patch as we are now.   Hopefully we will continue to produce home grown talent, and not fall into the trap of monetry inducement to put a side on the park.
